Day 10 (September 22, 2017) Dialogue of Civilizations – Migration
Sites: Beirut – the Garden of Forgiveness, the Silk Museum, the National Museum
We visited Beirut, the capital city. Had lecture on the topic: “Why is Lebanon a Laboratory of Dialogue? Hospitality and Dialogue in the World of Strangers? What is Dialogue? What are its prerequisites? Lebanon: Land of Dialogue: ‘More than a Country.’ John Paul II at the Garden of Forgiveness” by Dr Chady Rahme. After the lecture, we concluded with a prayer of forgiveness at the national chapel dedicated to Virgin Mary, Mother of Christ, where Christians and Muslims gather every year precisely on the March 25, to remember the pains coursed by their civil war and then pray for forgiveness.
From there we moved to the national Museum Garden and had our lunch around the museum. Finally we concluded the day with a Nigerian dinner in the home of one of the Lebanese-Nigerians in Beirut.
