The Wole Soyinka Foundation is a nonprofit organization and is organized and operated exclusively to promote the written and visual arts for charitable and educational purposes.

Our organization is charitable as defined in Treas. Reg. 1.501(c)(3)-1(d)(2) and educational as defined in Treas. Reg. 1.501(c)(3)-1(d)(3) and operates exclusively to advance education, instruct the public on subjects useful to the individual and beneficial to the community and to improve and develop the literary arts.

In carrying out the exempt purpose of The Wole Soyinka Foundation, the organization is dedicated exclusively to promoting education by supporting scholars, writers, and artists with the creation of an artistic retreat in Nigeria, Africa.

This retreat will allow artists and scholars in residence the freedom to work on their projects without commercial or political restraints in a peaceful and relaxing environment.

The organization also supports the local and international exchange and display of cultural, literary and visual arts consistent with Rev Rulings 65-271, 66-178 and 75-471.
